Left back Destiny Udogie (21) wanted to join the Italian national team, but her club Tottenham reportedly prevented her from doing so.

Citing an interview with Udogi's agent, Stefano Antonelli, on the 15th (Korean time), the British 'Sports Mall' reported that Udogi strongly wanted to join the Italian national team, but Tottenham refused.

Italy coach Luciano Spalletti left Udogie out of his roster when he called up the national team on Nov. 11. "I didn't call Udogie because of his injury. It's not a technical decision," Spalletti said.

Udogie was left out of the squad for the trip to Wolverhampton on Wednesday after being sent off for accumulating cautions in the home game against Chelsea on July 7. He was expected to be called up to the Italy squad but appeared to have a sudden injury problem.

Udogie made his first appearance for the A's last month. He made his Italy debut as a substitute in the Euro 2024 qualifier against Malta and started the next game against England, impressing in the defeat.

Italy have two Euro 2024 qualifiers this month against North Macedonia and Ukraine. Spalletti has called up a 29-man squad for the occasion, with Udogie's name missing. 카지노사이트777

"The first one to be unhappy will be Spalletti," Antonelli told Italy's Tuttomercato Web, adding: "In the last few calls-ups he has given strong signals. But unfortunately, against Sheffield Wednesday at home (Sept. 16), he developed a hip problem."

"Tottenham did everything they could to get him back against Chelsea, who were terrible. He played 60 minutes before getting sent off," explaining that "there was a risk of recurrence of the injury afterwards, so we decided not to risk it."

"Until the last minute, Udogie was trying to convince the Tottenham staff how special the national team was to him," he continued, "He said, 'We want to be part of history, we want to be part of this group when the Euros start,'" he lamented.

Udogie signed for Tottenham in the summer of 2022. However, he rejoined Spurs ahead of this season after being sent out on loan to Udinese. Udogie has been trusted by Postecoglou since the first game of the season and has impressed.

Despite his young age, he has the physicality to dominate opposing strikers at 6-foot-2 and 73 kilograms. He has the edge in one-on-one battles and can use his left foot to make low overlapping runs in attack. However, his tackling is lacking.
