For Son Heung-min, his new role has given him wings.

"It was easier to speculate that Harry Kane's departure to Bayern Munich would have a negative impact on Son Heung-min. The pair have scored more goals than any other combination in Premier League (PL) history," Sky Sports reported.

"He was named PL Player of the Month for September after scoring six goals in four appearances. Son has taken Enze Postecoglou's side to the top of the table in his new role - it's a new beginning."

Kane's departure this summer left Tottenham without a frontline striker. Postecoglou initially gave a chance to the Frenchman, but a sub-par performance left him scratching his head. The solution was to move Son Heung-min up front.

Against Burnley, Enze Postecoglou started playing Son up front. It worked. Heung-min scored a hat trick against Burnley, proving his worth as a frontline attacking option. Since then, Heung-min has started four consecutive games up front, including a multi-goal performance against Arsenal and an early goal against Liverpool. 온라인카지노

The goal against Liverpool marked his 200th European goal. Son first made a name for himself with Hamburg in the 2010-11 season, scoring his first goal for the club on his debut. He played three seasons with Hamburg, scoring 20 goals in 78 games. He went on to score 29 goals in 87 games for Leverkusen. In his ninth season with Tottenham, he has scored 151 goals, taking his total to 200.

Sixth all-time. Harry Kane is still the most prolific player in a Tottenham shirt. Kane has scored 280 goals. He is followed by Jimmy Greaves, who played for Spurs from 1961 to 1970, with 266 goals. Bobby Smith is third with 208 goals, Martin Chivers is fourth with 174, and Cliff Jones is fifth with 159.Son Heung-min is sixth with 151.

He has now scored 109 goals in the PL. This moves him past Peter Crouch (108) and into a tie with Ryan Giggs (109) for 27th place on the PL's all-time goalscoring list. Just above him are Emil Heskey (110) and Sadio Mane (111). He needs just 11 more goals to join Steven Gerrard (120) in 21st place.

This earns him the September Player of the Month award. "Son Heung-min is the EA SPORTS Player of the Month for September 2023," the PL Secretariat announced on Wednesday. The Tottenham Hotspur captain scored six goals in four games, beating Burnley, Sheffield United and Liverpool. He also scored in a draw with Arsenal to keep his side unbeaten on the season," said EA Sports in announcing the award.

This is the fourth time in his career that Son has won the September Player of the Month award. He won his first PL Player of the Month award in September 2016-17 and his second in April of the same season. His last award came in the 2020-21 season.

These results weren't just a result of Son being at the forefront. According to data released by Sky Sports, Son has taken more touches inside the opponent's penalty box this season than he has in eight seasons. In particular, he has taken less than 10% of the touches in the last three seasons, and this season he has taken close to 20%.

All six of his goals have come from inside the penalty box. "All six of his PL goals have come from inside the box. This is a useful example of a positional shift. Since the beginning of September, no player has scored more goals than Son Heung-min." According to the publication's data, Son scored six goals and had three shots on target out of 10 shots inside the penalty box. Outside of the penalty box, he had seven shots and two on target.

Postecoglou is the man who has made this transformation possible. "Interestingly, Son may be a more natural fit than Kane in this system, which allows Son to free up space for playmaker James Maddison," the outlet analyzed.

"Of course, Kane will drop deep and fulfill that function himself. But the fact that Son is fifth in goals behind Holland, Ollie Watkins and Dominic Solanke suggests he has evolved into a true striker."
